Marion County Literacy Awards Nominations

2012 “Reading for All” Literacy Awards. 

Nominations are due June 18, 2012.


Nominees must reside in Marion County.
  Nominations will be accepted for three categories:  youth, adult, and business/organization.

The Marion County Children and Families Department proudly presents the 2012 Reading for All Literacy Awards. 

We know that we have remarkable individuals and organizations all over Marion County who have made extraordinary contributions to support reading.  The Reading for All Literacy Awards will honor these accomplishments.

We need your help to recognize and celebrate youth, adults, organizations, and businesses that are making efforts to improve literacy in Marion County. 
Nominations are due June 18, 2012.
 
The process is simple and nomination forms can be submitted several ways:
  1. Go directly to our online nomination form at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012ReadingforAllAwards or visit www.reading4all.com and find the link to submit your nominations online.
  2. Complete the attached nomination form and submit to the Marion County Children & Families Department by FAX at 503-373-4460, or by mail to PO Box 14500, Salem, Oregon 97309. Nomination forms can also be delivered directly to our office located at 451 Division Street NE. Suite 200, Salem. 
Examples of nominations could include:
  • Youth:  Youth who read more than an hour per day, who spend time reading to others, or who have made significant personal gains in reading as demonstrated by reading skills, grades, or other markers of success;
  • Adults:  Adults who have achieved significant personal goals, who are an inspiration to others (family, school, community, or general literacy efforts), or who demonstrate commitment to literacy through their leadership (could be outstanding teachers, parents, coaches, librarians, etc. who have gone the extra mile to promote a literacy project or program in the community);
  • Businesses or organizations:  Businesses, agencies or organizations that have demonstrated commitment to literacy, participated actively in literacy events, or contributed resources to support literacy in Marion County (examples might include employers that have promoted literacy, allowed their employees to volunteer as readers or tutors, sponsored literacy events or conferences, or have engaged in other notable literacy efforts).
All nominees will be recognized during the Reading for All celebration at the Keizer Volcanoes Baseball Game on June 29, 2012.   Finalists and winners will be announced at the Marion County Fair at  2:00pm on July 15, 2012.
