Get Involved! - Your Family

Volunteer

There are many ways to support positive reading and literacy for area kids and families. When you contact the United Way’s Volunteer and Mentor Center you’ll find many examples of ways that you can contribute. Each opportunity has its own rewards, and your contributions will be greatly appreciated.

See some of the opportunities listed to advance reading and literacy in the county.

Donated books (or gently used books purchased at garage sales) are always much appreciated.

With summer right around the corner, families who want to help out are needed at such community events as the Salem Art Festival, Ag Fest & Saturday Market. We’ll find the perfect opportunity to match your interests! Contact us for more information.

Organize a book drive.

Quick Tips:

  • Read aloud to each other and your pets.
  • Turn off the TV, put away the video games, and head to the library!
  • Donate new or gently used books for re- distribution to another family.
