Volunteer Opportunities: Marion Polk Yamhill

MARION COUNTY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Current volunteer opportunities in Marion County:
  1. Reading for All Champion! Assist the RFA coordinator with community events, book sorting and book distributions.
  2. Book Sorting: Volunteers are needed to help process, clean and sticker books collected during the Holiday Book Drive. Books will then be sorted and organized by reading level and packed in boxes. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please complete the volunteer form by Click here to get started! Book sorting dates in Marion County:

Book Sorts
Reading for All is flexible in working with your schedule. If you would like to participate in a book sort with a group of friends or colleagues, but you do not see one listed that you could attend, please let us know and we will work around your availability! A minimum of 6 volunteers is required to accommodate a book sort with your group.
All book sort activities are at our Keizer warehouse at 4120 N River Road, Keizer. OR. 97303
  1. April 13, 2012.
    One shift: 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
    Location capacity: 14 volunteers per shift.
  2. April 16, 2012.
    Two shifts: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. And 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
    Location capacity: 14 volunteers per shift.
  3. April 18, 2012.
    Two shifts: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. And 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
    Location capacity: 12 volunteers per shift.
  4. April 28, 2012.
    One shift: 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
    Location capacity: 12 volunteers.


    Polk County Volunteer Opportunities
    Dallas RFA Action Team
    Meets the first Thursday of each month
    3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

    Learn, Grow, Thrive: Children, Families and Community
    Saturday, May 5, 2012
    Werner University Center, Western Oregon University, Monmouth
    Volunteers will be needed to assist with a variety of tasks and projects for the day of this event. The following opportunities are available: Room Hosts, Registration & Check-In, and the Afternoon Session.

    Volunteers are also needed for the following opportunities:
    1. Giving literacy presentations at local parenting classes.
    2. Handing out free books and literacy information at community events.
    3. Stickering and sorting books.
    4. Assembling literacy kits.

    Reading for All will have a booth with a free children's book give away and activities for kids.  Volunteers are needed for two different shifts:  10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.

    Reading for All will have a booth with a free children's book give away and activities for kids.  Volunteers are needed for three different shifts:  9:30-11:30 a.m. (includes set-up), 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. (includes clean up).

    Literacy Action Teams (LAT)
    These groups are individuals from the community who are interested in working toward filling literacy gaps.
